Day 13: We are Children of God

God our Father

We are now in Part Two of the Consecration. Here we will spend seven days getting to know who we are in God’s plan.

“‘I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” John 20:17

In this Bible passage, Jesus is telling us that God is our Father. In this, Jesus calls us Children of God. Yes, God is our Father. He created us.

Why? The Catechism teaches us that God made us to know Him, to love Him and to serve Him. In knowing this, we learn more about ourselves and how we can know, love, and serve God.

In our lives, we know God by His beautiful creation all around us. We also get to know Him through His Word (the Bible). Church teaching and tradition are there to support God’s Word.

To love God is a desire to unite with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We do this through our prayers and daily interactions with God.

To serve God is to join Him in his plan. When we follow rules, show kindness to others, pray for others, and follow the Commandments, we are serving God. The opposite of serve is to sin. This is because when we sin we are not cooperating with Him.

So, when we know Him, love Him, and serve Him, we are showing that we are children of God.

Prayer – Jesus, help me to be a faithful child of God.
