Mary is Diligent in Prayer
“She is the woman of prayer and work in Nazareth,” Pope Francis, The Joy of the Gospel, 288
The word diligent means to take great care in doing something. One of the things Mary was diligent in was prayer. He prayed when she was here on Earth and she continues her prayers in Heaven. She prays and intercedes for us, bringing us closer to her Son Jesus.
In our lives, we have many options for prayer. We have our formal prayers (like the Our Father), devotions (like the Rosary), intentions, thanksgiving, and sorrow. However, other times we can just talk to God and open our hearts to Him. Then there’s Adoration. This is when we go to church and the blessed communion host is put in a stand (called a monstrance) on the altar. We sit in silence and prayer while silently talking to God. At different times, we will choose any variety of the above forms of praying. The most important part is that we are sincere when we pray so that Jesus can enter our hearts more and more.
Prayer: O Mary conceived without Sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.
