Day 6: Mary is Patient

“Be it done to me according to thy word.”

When we think about everything that occurred in Mary’s life, we see her patience. God asked a big task from her when he asked her to be the mother of Jesus. And when it came time for Jesus to be born, Mary and Joseph weren’t even home. They had to go to Bethlehem for the census. (A census is the counting of people in a town or city). There are many more examples of her patience in the Gospel.

In our lives, we may find it difficult to be patient with those around us. Maybe our sister or brother is bothering us, or maybe we are in a long line. Our first reaction might be frustration or anger. What I try to do is remember that every person is important to God and how we treat others is how we treat Him. It doesn’t always work, but that’s when I apologize ( in a sincere way) to that person. Mary is the perfect guide in patience and we can look to her as an example.

Prayer: Mary, help me be patient with others
