Day 3: Mary is Chaste

“Woman behold your son.”

Mary dedicated her life to God. When Jesus was born, he was her only child. Mary and Joseph had no other children before He was born nor after He was born.

However, right before Jesus died on the cross, he said to Mary, “Woman, behold your son.”

The scene is described in the bible in John 19:26-27

When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

At that moment Mary became our mother too. She continues to intercede for us even to this day.  So even though Jesus was her only child because of her faithfulness to God, she is the mother of us all.

Prayer: Mary, thank you for being our mother.
