Day 2: Mary Gives of Herself

Mary Our Example on Charity

“I am the handmaid of the Lord.”

As soon as Mary understood what God was asking of her, she immediately agreed. However, her giving didn’t stop there. In fact, her giving still goes on to this day.

When she was on Earth, her “yes” changed her entire life. Everything since that moment she has given to God and to us. God loves us so much that he created a way for us to get to Heaven. Mary’s “yes” has given us Jesus – our way to Heaven.

To this day, Mary is still giving. She occasionally sends us messages to remind us to love God and love others. Some examples of this are her appearances in places like Fatima or Lourdes.

For an additional activity, I found a great coloring page of Our Lady of Fatima

Today, we look to Mary as an example of giving to others.

What can we do? We can make someone’s day better by sharing a toy, sending a card or letter, offering prayers for someone, or any other way you can think of.

Prayer: Mary, help us to give to others.
